Recreational Activities
Requirements
- Prepare a list of attitudes typical of a caring friend when at home, at church, at school, at the park, etc.
Answer: A caring friend helps and looks after people everywhere: 1) At home: obey your parents, help with the chores and treat your siblings lovingly. 2) At church: greet everyone with a smile, help those who need it and stay quiet at the right time. 3) At school: share your snack, help a classmate with their lesson and never leave anyone alone. 4) At the park: share the toys, wait your turn and invite others to play. — Being caring means noticing what others need and helping with love anywhere.
- Interview a person and ask the following:
- The date they were born;
- Their favorite animals;
- Two favorite colors;
- Three favorite foods;
- Four important things in their life;
- An interesting trip they took.
Answer: With an adult's help: 1) Choose someone you love (grandma, uncle, neighbor or friend). 2) Ask permission and say you are going to ask some questions. 3) Ask for their birth date, their favorite animals, two favorite colors, three favorite foods, four things that are important to them and a fun trip they took. 4) Write the answers on a piece of paper or ask the adult to write them down. 5) Thank them with a smile at the end. — Asking questions and listening carefully shows that you really care about the person.
- Plan and do something special for a friend.
Answer: With an adult: 1) Think of a friend and what would make them happy (a drawing, a note, helping with something or a surprise). 2) Plan: what you will do and when. 3) Prepare it with love. 4) Hand it over or carry out the surprise for your friend. 5) Notice how happy they become. — Doing something special for a friend shows love and makes the friendship stronger.
- Honor one of your friends by giving them a gift and a friendship card, chosen or made by yourself.
Answer: With an adult's help: 1) Choose a friend to honor. 2) Make or pick a simple little gift (a drawing, a keepsake or something they like). 3) Make a card with colored paper, writing a nice message like 'You are my special friend'. 4) Hand over the gift and the card with a hug and tell them why they are your friend. — Giving a friend something you made yourself shows that they are important to you.
- Visit a person with a disability and bring them a little gift. Use the questions from requirement 2 as a basis for the conversation.
Answer: Always with an adult: 1) Choose someone who is sick or stays at home (an elderly person, a neighbor or someone from church). 2) Prepare a simple little keepsake, like a drawing or a little flower. 3) Visit with the adult, greet them warmly and hand over the keepsake. 4) Chat using the questions from requirement 2 (favorite animals and colors, trips) to cheer the person up. 5) Say goodbye with a hug. — Visiting those who are sick or alone brings joy and shows the love of Jesus.
- Show affection for your parents:
- By helping to keep your room or your toys clean and in order;
- By hugging them, kissing them, and saying "I love you";
- By doing extra chores without being asked;
- By coming up with your own way of showing appreciation for them.
Answer: Over a few days: 1) Tidy your room and put your toys away without being told. 2) Give your parents hugs and kisses and say 'I love you'. 3) Do an extra chore as a surprise, like setting the table or putting something away. 4) Come up with your own way to show love, like a drawing, a note or helping with a surprise. Do everything with joy. — Helping and showing affection makes parents happy and pleases God, who asks us to honor our father and mother.
- Memorize and explain what is written in 1 Peter 5:5 to 7.
Answer: In 1 Peter 5:5 to 7 the Bible teaches three things: 1) We should be humble and obedient, not proud, because God helps those who are humble. 2) We should place ourselves in God's hands with trust. 3) We can hand over all our worries to God, because He cares for us with love. In short: be humble, trust in God and do not be worried, because He cares for you. — This Bible passage teaches us to be humble and to trust in God, who cares for us with love.
