Requirements

  1. Play a melody on a simple instrument (recorder, harmonica, keyboard).

Answer: Choose an easy instrument with the help of an adult. 1) Start with a very well-known little song, like 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star'. 2) Learn the notes slowly, one at a time. 3) Practice a little bit every day. 4) When you know how to play it, show it to someone. The important thing is to have fun and to try! — Playing an instrument helps train attention, rhythm, and the coordination of your little hands.

  2. Portray at least three characters or animals using gestures (mime / no sound) so that the group can recognize them.

Answer: With an adult, choose 3 easy animals or characters (e.g.: monkey, elephant and rabbit). 1) Think of a well-known gesture for each one (the monkey scratches itself, the elephant swings its trunk, the rabbit hops). 2) Practice in front of the mirror, without talking or making any noise. 3) Do the mime for the group and let them guess. It's only with gestures! — Mime uses only the body to tell something and helps you lose your shyness and be creative.

  3. Take part in a play created by the group or in the dramatization of a Bible story.

Answer: Get together with your group and an adult to put on a play. 1) Choose together an easy Bible story (like Daniel in the lions' den or Noah and the ark). 2) Each person takes a character. 3) Practice the lines and the gestures a few times. 4) Present it for the family or for the club. Working as a team is the best part! — Acting out a story helps you learn to work together and to tell good things to others.

  4. Sing a solo and a song with a group in public.

Answer: With the help of an adult, prepare two presentations. 1) For the solo, choose a short song you like and practice alone until you memorize it. 2) For the group song, rehearse together with your friends so everyone sings at the same time. 3) Present them in a place with people watching, like the worship service or the club meeting. Take a deep breath and sing with joy! — Singing alone and in a group teaches courage and also how to wait for each person's turn.

  5. Write a poem about nature and present it in public.

Answer: With an adult helping, create a very simple poem. 1) Choose something from nature that you love (a flower, the sun, a little bird). 2) Write short sentences saying how beautiful it is; it can have little words that rhyme. 3) Practice reading it out loud. 4) Present your poem to the group or to the family. Do your best with all your heart! — Writing about nature helps us observe and give thanks for the beautiful things that God created.

  6. Know by heart two folk or traditional songs from your country.

Answer: Folk songs are old songs that people have been singing for a long time and pass down from parents to children. In Brazil, two good examples to memorize are 'Ciranda, Cirandinha' and 'Atirei o Pau no Gato' (or 'A Canoa Virou', 'Marcha Soldado'). Learn the lyrics of two of them by heart, with the help of an adult. — Folk songs are part of our country's culture and are passed down from generation to generation.

  7. Invent games together with some friends, and lead the games of the Club or the Unit on an occasion arranged with the Directors.

Answer: With your friends and the help of an adult, create a new game. 1) Think together of a fun and safe idea. 2) Agree on the simple rules and on what each person will do. 3) Set the right day with the leadership. 4) On the day, explain the game and help everyone play it properly. Being a leader means helping your friends have fun with respect! — Inventing and leading games teaches you to lead, to have ideas, and to take care of your friends.

  8. Read and discuss Psalm 66:1 and 2 with your group.

Answer: Psalm 66, verses 1 and 2, tells everyone to praise God with joy. Verse 1 calls out: 'Shout joyfully to God, all the earth!' (shout with joy to God). Verse 2 says: 'Sing the glory of His name; give glory to His praise' (sing showing how great and good God is). It means that we should praise and thank God by singing with joy. — This psalm invites us to praise God with music and joy for everything He does.
