Requirements

  1. Know how to locate three promises of the second coming of Jesus in the Bible.

Answer: Three promises that Jesus will come back are: 1) John 14:3 - Jesus said: "I will come again and take you to myself"; 2) Acts 1:11 - the angels said that Jesus "will come in the same way" that He went up to Heaven; 3) Revelation 22:12 - Jesus says: "behold, I am coming soon". — The Bible itself repeats several times that Jesus will come back, so we can be sure of this promise.

  2. Act out a biblical parable about the second coming of Jesus.

Answer: With the help of an adult: 1) choose a parable, like the one about the Ten Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13), which talks about waiting for Jesus with the lamp lit; 2) read the story together in the Bible; 3) agree on the characters (the wise girls with oil and the careless ones without oil); 4) use simple objects (a flashlight, a sheet as a robe) and present the scene for the family or the club. — Acting out the parable helps us understand that we need to always be ready to receive Jesus.

  3. Make a list of the signs of the nearness of the second coming of Christ, found in Matthew 24:3-14.

Answer: With an adult: 1) open the Bible to Matthew 24, verses 3 to 14; 2) read slowly; 3) write down on a sheet each sign that Jesus mentioned, for example: wars and rumors of wars, famine, earthquakes, false prophets, many people growing cold in their love, and the gospel being preached in all the world; 4) keep the list to remember. — Writing down the signs helps us notice that Jesus' return is getting closer and closer.

  4. Study the story of Jesus' ascension to Heaven after His resurrection. Then make a list of the similarities and differences between this event and His second coming.

Answer: With an adult: 1) read the ascension in Acts 1:9-11; 2) read how the return will be in Matthew 24:30 and 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; 3) write down on a sheet the similarities (Jesus appears in the clouds, comes from Heaven, everyone sees) and the differences (at the ascension only a few saw and it was quiet; at the return there will be a trumpet, angels, and the saved will be taken to Heaven). — Comparing the two moments shows that Jesus will come back the same way He went up, but with great glory.

  5. Copy from the Bible the description of the New Jerusalem, underlining the words you do not know. Then look up the meaning of these words, together with an adult, in a dictionary or Bible dictionary.

Answer: With an adult: 1) open the Bible to Revelation 21:1-27, which describes the New Jerusalem; 2) copy the text onto a sheet with neat handwriting; 3) underline the words you don't know (like "jasper", "sapphire" or "emerald"); 4) look up the meaning of those words together, in a dictionary or a Bible dictionary, and write it next to them. — Getting to know the New Jerusalem makes us excited to live with Jesus in the beautiful city He has prepared.

  6. Memorize John 1:1-3

Answer: John 1:1-3 says: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him nothing was made that has been made." The "Word" is Jesus, who has always existed and created all things. — This verse shows that Jesus is eternal and created the world, which is why we can trust in His promises.
