- Describe the circumstances in which a rainbow is formed and which elements make it up.
Answer: The rainbow appears when sunlight hits the little raindrops that stay in the air. The light enters the drop, splits up, and comes out painted in many colors. That is why it usually shows up when it rains and the sun shines at the same time. The elements that form it are: sunlight and water drops (rain). It has the colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. — The rainbow forms because the white light of the sun separates into colors as it passes through the raindrops.
- Know how to tell the story of the first rainbow, as narrated in Genesis 9:8-17.
Answer: After the great flood, when Noah, his family, and the animals came out of the ark, God made a promise (a covenant) with Noah and with the whole earth. God promised that He would never again send a flood to destroy all life on the planet. And He placed the rainbow in the clouds as a sign of that promise. Every time the rainbow appears, God remembers His covenant to take care of us (Genesis 9:8-17). — In Genesis 9, the rainbow is the sign of God's covenant never to send a flood over all the earth again.
- Learn the meaning of the word "covenant" and list at least five synonyms for this word.
Answer: A covenant means a serious agreement or deal made between two people (or between God and people), in which each one promises to do what they said. Five words that mean almost the same thing (synonyms) are: 1) agreement 2) promise 3) alliance 4) deal 5) commitment. — A covenant is a promise agreement between two parties, and it has synonyms like agreement, alliance, and commitment.
- Find in the Bible two other divine promises that, like the rainbow, guarantee divine protection.
Answer: Yes! The Bible has many promises of protection. Two of them are: 1) Psalm 91:11 — "God will give His angels orders about you, to guard you in all your ways," which means God sends His angels to take care of us. 2) Matthew 28:20 — Jesus says: "Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the world," showing that He never leaves us alone. You can also use Isaiah 41:10 ("Do not fear, for I am with you"). — The Bible has several promises that God protects His children, like Psalm 91:11 and Matthew 28:20.
- Draw a rainbow with the correct colors.
Answer: How to do it, with the help of an adult: 1) Get a sheet of paper and pencils or crayons. 2) Draw a big arch (like a smile turned upward), nicely curved. 3) Color the colors in the right order, from top to bottom: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo (dark blue), and violet (purple). 4) If you want, draw clouds and a sun beside it. Do your best with the colors! — Drawing the rainbow with the seven colors in the right order helps us remember God's promise.
- Present at least three promises made by Christ when He was on earth.
Answer: Jesus made many beautiful promises. Three of them are: 1) "I am with you always, even to the end of the world" (Matthew 28:20) — He never abandons us. 2) "I will prepare a place for you... so that where I am you may be also" (John 14:2-3) — He is preparing a home in heaven and will come back to get us. 3) "Come to me... and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28) — He gives us rest and peace when we are tired or sad. — Jesus promised to always be with us, to prepare a home in heaven, and to come back to get us.
- Explain what promises God made to Joshua when he began to lead Israel (Joshua 1) and how they apply to you today.
Answer: When Joshua began to lead the people of Israel, God made beautiful promises to him (Joshua 1): 1) "I will be with you; I will not leave you nor forsake you" (Joshua 1:5) — God promised to always be with him. 2) "Be strong and courageous" (Joshua 1:9) — God asked for courage and promised help. 3) "The Lord your God is with you wherever you go" (Joshua 1:9) — God would protect him everywhere. Today these promises also work for you: when you feel afraid, remember that God is with you, gives you courage, and never abandons you. — In Joshua 1, God promised to always be present and to give courage, and this same promise is valid for us today.
